In memory of Hugh Jackson

It is with great sadness that we learned that Hugh passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday 22nd October, aged 84 years.

Hugh was a founding member of Friends of Brierdene and worked tirelessly over the years to maintain the Dene for the enjoyment of the whole community. He was very proud to have built the 'Turtle bridge' below the Scout Hut, using stones removed from the Dene. The Friends were the first organisation north of the Tees to win the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Outstanding' award - and they have won it every year since. We will all miss Hugh greatly and remember him very fondly.
